The Poultry Producers Association (PPA) wishes to remind all poultry producers that
registration with the Livestock and Livestock Products Board of Namibia (LLPBN) is
mandatory in terms of the Livestock and Livestock Products Act, 1981 (Act No. 12 of
1981), as amended.
In terms of the Act, poultry is classified as livestock, and poultry products fall under
controlled livestock products. Any person involved in the production, keeping,
processing, selling, or marketing of poultry or poultry products is therefore required by
law to be registered with the LLPBN.
Producers are advised that failure to register constitutes an offence under the Act.
Upon conviction, non-compliance may result in fines, penalties, or other enforcement
measures, as provided for in the legislation.
The PPA strongly encourages all poultry producers who are not yet registered to
contact our offices or the LLPBN for assistance. Registration supports compliance,
improves traceability, and strengthens the formal poultry value chain.
