The NAU AgriBraai 2026 will be hosted at the Gobabis Showgrounds on 10 and 11 April 2026 under the theme “Around the campfire.” In addition to the established braai competition, the programme has been expanded to include a ladies’ morning, a wildlife auction and a range of entertainment for all age groups.
Activities commence on Friday with the official introduction of all braai teams, followed by a sheep’s head dinner. Tickets for the dinner are limited and must be booked in advance. Gates for braai teams open at 07:00 on Friday for stall setup.
The braai competition will follow a staggered start system. Each team will draw a time slot and will then receive a box containing compulsory ingredients. Teams will have four hours to prepare a starter, main course and dessert for three judges. Cooking may only be done using wood or charcoal; the use of gas or electrical appliances is not permitted.
The compulsory main ingredient is rump steak, while the remaining ingredients will be revealed on the day.
According to the Sonop Farmers’ Association, Saturday’s programme will run alongside the braai competition and includes:
• A ladies’ morning with Left Sleeve, a South African motivational guest speaker;
• The first wildlife auction, presented in cooperation with Agra and Du Preez Wild, as a catalogue auction;
• Exhibitors from across the agricultural sector;
• A children’s area with jumping castles and activities;
